Burpee's Hybrid Cantaloupe

I got my first cantaloupe out of the veggie garden. Last year I planted Hale's Best and manage to only get a couple due to the horrible weather. This year I decided to plant Burpee's Hybrid; not for any particular reason, I just saw them at the nursery and thought I would try a different variety. So far the plants are doing well and I have about a half dozen nice cantaloupes on the vines; outside of the one that I ate of course. The weather has been very dry and hot here and that has affected the crops. In regard to taste, I think I prefer Hale's Best; although the current hot dry weather could have had something to do with the taste being slightly less than optimum. However, it was still quite delicious and I ended up eating the whole cantaloupe at one sitting.

Augie DoggyVery nice. They always make a big deal here over the Rocky Ford cantaloupe crop. Supposedly, the hot days, cool nights, and elevation make them especially sweet.
