The Orchard

This is the first year for several years that a freeze has not visited while the fruit trees were in bloom. I call it the orchard, but I only have two apple trees; one red delicious, one yellow delicious, a red plum, and a small peach tree. I have wanted for some time to add a pear tree to the orchard. There is also a fig bush, some grape vines, and blueberry bushes. For the past several years, until this year, I had to set up halogen lights under the trees in hope of saving a few buds or blossoms. Last year I gathered very little from the apple trees, the peach tree and the plum due to a spring freeze, and not much at all from the blueberry bushes. I am looking forward this year to the fruits from the orchard.
Peach Blossoms
Apple Blossoms
Red Plum Blossoms
The red plum blossoms are tiny little flowers; the photograph is a macro shot, but they give off a wonderful fragrance that fills the air. Even if they did not produce fruit; I am glad they do, just the blooms and fragrance alone is worth the addition of one to a garden.
